Country has borders with eight countries: Iraq and Syria to the south; Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia to the east; Georgia to the northeast and Bulgaria and Greece to the northwest.
Three sides surrounded by sea: Mediterranean Sea to the south; Aegean Sea to the west and Black Sea to the north. Also an inner sea to the northwest, the Marmara Sea forms Turkish Straits; the Bosphorus Strait in İstanbul and Dardanelles Strait in Çanakkale.
